I’ve been a little absent on here lately, mainly due to the fact that I’ve returned to work. It’s taken me a little while (a few weeks) to navigate through the new routine and pop out the other side.
When it comes to routine, it often takes time to adapt to a new one. And this is totally normal! Making decisions is mentally exhausting. After all, that’s why we have routines built in to our day; it takes away some decisions from your life because you’re able to go on to auto-pilot and just ‘do’.
Now, one thing going back to work has meant is that I’ve been reaching for my excuse book of ‘I don’t have time for that’. Which, essentially is true, because I’ve prioritised certain areas which I FOUND time for and pushed others to the backburner. And I’m sure many of you can relate to this feeling. The important thing to note here is, once that decisional exhaustion wears off, you can slowly start shifting your energy to different activities. For me, this is back to focusing on my snack preparation!
I suppose the lesson I’m getting at here is that some things take time, but small actionable steps make it seem less daunting, more achievable. These small steps amount to long-lasting, positive self-improvement.. So these quick and easy sesame tahini balls, come 3pm, will sort out your snack-reaching hands.
Meal preparation is a big part of many lives. Think about it; having a healthy, nutritious options ready for when you become hungry reduces the quick-fix appeal of an empty calorie counterpart.
These sesame tahini snack bites are a great, easy option for snack preparation. My son absolutely loves these snack bites when I make them, but hey, I think he likes tahini more than I do. The sesame seeds added in to this recipe add a bit of texture and give a little pop in your mouth.
So, next time you have a spare 15 minutes, grab out your food processor and give these sesame snack bites your attention. Take comfort in the fact that you’ve made the snack you’re eating, so you know exactly what’s in it (not what a packet tells you). Remember to enjoy the little moments in life.
